Hughes the Force is a film by J.C. Reifenberg. It was just released today (May 25th) for free download on www.hughestheforce.com. The film is a mash-up of Weird Science and Star Wars. It focuses on two high school nerds Simon and Henry. The movie starts with a single trip to a convenience store sets up a series of events that will change their lives forever. Video after the jump.

As you would expect there are the standard Star Wars jokes that make even the viewer say “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.” Some are even cringe worthy. Simon and Henry bust open a limited addition slave Leia figure, drag out an old Mac, and some wires in an attempt to give life to the action figure. They get a little more than they anticipated when Leia exhibits the power’s of the force.  Like Weird Science, the force powers allow Leia to aid Simon and Henry in their quest for popularity.

The biggest star in the film is Kevin Smith who makes a short cameo. Overall, if you have thirty-minutes to waste click on the video below.
