Josh Trank chooses video games over comic books for his next film

Josh Trank chooses video games over comic books for his next filmDirector of Chronicle, Josh Trank, is still attached to two comic book movie projects. Fantastic Four and a solo Venom movie are still under his wing, however before either of those gets off the ground, Trank will be taking on some big villains in Sony’s video game adaptation, Shadow of the Colossus. Released in 2005, Shadow of the Colossus was highly acclaimed and immediately gathered a cult following. The game centers around a boy who makes a deal with the devil in order to bring his lover back to life. In order to do this the devil asks him to slay 16 colossi.
This movie has all the making of being a big budget special effects heavy summer blockbuster. Considering what we saw Trank do with $13 million dollars and a good script for Chronicle I am pretty excited to see Shadow of the Colossus. No writers have been attached yet, but I’m sure Max Landis, co-writer of Chronicle, will be on the shortlist. Check out the trailer for the re-released HD version of the game below. Now imagine this onscreen! This could be absolutely amazing to see. What do you think?
