Rumors worth discussing: Marvels next hero is Black Panther

Latino-review.com, who is notorious for having great inside sources, is reporting that none other than Black Panther is slated as Marvel’s mystery solo hero movie star for 2014. As I have stated maybe a million times on the podcast, I would love to see a Black Panther movie done right. It looks like this is going to happen, and I am psyched. Black Panther is the son of a the king of Wakanda, a fictional African country, that becomes king and takes on the long standing tradition of being the protector of his nation as the Black Panther. Wakanda is the country in which Vibranium, the material that Captain America’s shield is made from, is mined. In the comics Wakanda is one of the most technologically advanced nations in the world, and Black Panther is one of the world’s smartest heroes.

As a black person in America, Black Panther was a very important comic character to me. He is known as pretty much the first major black hero in the Marvel universe. Having a black version of basically Batman onscreen is maybe one of the coolest things ever. I can not be more jazzed for this development. Time for me to get some Black Panther trade paper backs and get back into the series full swing. Rumor has it Black Panther will cameo in Captain America and then spin off in his solo film in 2014. No directors or actors are attached at the moment, but who would you like to see in the role?

UPDATE: Maybe this is a clue as to who could play T’Challa
