Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master gets a full trailer

Paul Thomas Andersons The Master gets a full trailer

Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film, The Master, has been shown through two fantastic, yet bizarrely cut non-trailers. Both previous trailers gave us a remote sense of the world Anderson was building. They were intriguing and definitely made me want to know more about where he was going. Here we get to see a much more traditional trailer that lays out the story for the people who don’t follow this stuff like we do! Check out the trailer below:

Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, and Amy Adams star in this movie losely based on the Scientology (cult) beginnings. It has been revealed that Anderson has even screened an early copy to famed Scientologist Tom Cruise, so as to not alienate his friend when the movie is released. Cruise is said to have enjoyed the film but found some issues with it, yeah I bet he did! Needless to say, The Master seems like kind of hard hitting drama that cleanses the palate of folks after a summer of superheroing and over the top action. Anderson’s style of intimate shooting and heavy character interactions, namely between Phoenix and Hoffman while in jail seems pitch perfect. The Master hits theaters October 12, 2012. This won’t be one to miss.

Official synopsis (wikipedia): A charismatic intellectual (Hoffman) launches a religious organization following World War II. A drifter (Phoenix) becomes his right-hand man but as the faith begins to gain a fervent following, the drifter finds himself questioning the belief system and his mentor.
