Teaser Trailer for The Man of Steel

Teaser Trailer for The Man of Steel

When it was announced that Warner Bros. was planning on rebooting the Superman series I was hesitant. After seeing the lackluster sequel, Superman Returns, I felt that there was nobody who could do Superman proper justice, just rehashes of the same Donner films. Could The Man of Steel really be relevant in this world where things aren’t so black and white? He is the ultimate boy scout, and nowadays people want to see a vulnerable hero. How do you make someone who is basically a god vulnerable?

It seems that the writing duo of Christopher Nolan and David Goyer, famous for The Dark Knight trilogy, have figured out a way for us to care about Superman again. So here we are, our first glimpse at what very well might be the best Superman movie to date. The trailer has a very Nolan-esque feel to it, and that certainly isn’t a bad thing. Combined with director Zack Snyder’s key visual eye and insane action pieces, The Man of Steel is shaping up to be something special. This reboot was not only necessary for the character but for Warner Bros as well. The plan to make a Justice League movie is laying greatly on the shoulders of this film. Likely to be the jumping off point for Warner Bros/DC’s bid for an epic superhero team up film Nolan, Goyer, and Snyder have got to get this one right. Check out the teaser trailer below and tell us what you think in the comments section.

Frankly, the trailer is shot beautifully and has a sense of realness that the other Superman films didn’t possess. The Donner films were for the Superman of the 50s comic, and Zack Snyder’s The Man of Steel is the film for the modern age. I’m looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. The Man of Steel hits theaters June 14, 2013 starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, and Michael Shannon.
