The final chapter of Mark Millar’s Ocean’s Eleven with super villains mini-series, SuperCrooks, has come to an end. The four part series has been well received by fans and critics alike. Combining Millar’s writing and Leinil Yu’s artwork SuperCrooks has been one of the best series this year. SuperCrooks #4 carries on this precedent and ends the mini-series with style.
SuperCrooks #4 picks up with the team of villains beginning their much anticipated robbery of The Bastard. In a very stylized entrance the team goes through The Bastard’s security measures to get to his vault. The entire sequence is full of moments where each member uses their abilities to help progress the team forward. The violent moments in those scenes are great and somethings you just won’t see them coming. Even while the stakes are high the teams still has time to crack jokes without it seeming too over the top. They also take on the Praetorian, who up until this point has just been an intimidating figure who looks like a badass in the background. In the end of this arc you will find out just how powerful the Praetorian really is.
All in all, SuperCrooks #4 is a fun ride. You can’t help but to draw comparisons to the Ocean’s Eleven movie series. The fun atmosphere, the jokes, the characters, and the intricate ways in which the robbery is handles makes for a really enjoyable end to the series. Mark Millar says this is the end for now, and the series will pick back up next year with another four issues. I look forward to seeing what Millar and Yu come up with next time around. Famed director, Nacho Vigalondo has been confirmed to direct a live action SuperCrooks movie. Frankly, after reading the series I can’t wait. Seeing a rated R version of Ocean’s Eleven with super powers is right up my alley. Go read SuperCrooks right now!
