Del Toro gives us an update on Dark Universe

Del Toro gives us an update on Dark UniverseBack in November we posted a somewhat fascinating rumor about Guillermo Del Toro possibly directing a comic book movie for Warner Bros. The idea was to make a Justice League Dark film that teamed up some of the more off color anti-heroes of the DC Universe onto one team. The roster was rumored to include such characters as Swamp Thing, Deadman, The Spectre, John Constantine, Etrigan, and others. Well this is no longer a rumor! Take a listen to Del Toro himself talk about, Dark Universe, and where he is in the process:

While I am still pretty excited for this I do hope that WB isn’t moving to fast before getting their proper footing with The Justice League character movies. Let us know what you think in the comment section below:

  • Renwick

Please please please let the writer be Neil Gaiman. He has done so much amazing work with DC already with some of the Vertigo titles he has done (umm Sandman anyone). These types of off-shoot “darker” characters would be right up his alley. Also if anyone can do Constantine right its Del toro. I think that while DC is kind of catching up to Marvel in the movie biz, this would be a great direction to take it to set itself apart from the platform that Marvel has established. The Dark Knight trilogy was a great step in that direction and I think that this would be a wonderful leap to make DC a movie powerhouse like Marvel.
