Review: Oz the Great and Powerful

Review: Oz the Great and Powerful

This is the film 3D has been waiting for. Unfortunately no one told this to the writers. Have you ever wondered how the Wizard got to Oz has amassed so much power? Well Disney has decided to tell us that tale with cult favorite director Sam Raimi at the helm. Just how does a simple carnival magician put aside his greed and womanizing ways to become the Great and Powerful benefactor of a land of enchantment?

Review: Red Dawn

Review: Red Dawn

For a movie that was so formulaic and predictable I sure did have a lot of questions. There are many things that simply didn’t make sense, weird issues with consistency or things that really needed an explanation while others did not. That said by the last act I was having a good time with a few good humor moments and overall things were simply coming together well. Oh, and the damn shaky cam was lighter toward the end so that helped.

Adam WarRock Deserves Your Nerdly Support

If you are reading this page and you like hip-hop then pay attention, this is important.

Not long ago I wrote a brief article about nerd rapper MC Chris, a “man” that will not get a link from this page, talking about how he treats fans and has treated me in the past. Well some good things did come from that night and it was discovering some other artists that deserve your attention a lot more than that other dude.

The Nostalgia Critic Has Been Retired

The Nostalgia Critic Has Been Retired

In recent years a new corner of the internet has emerged. Largely thanks to YouTube, video reviews have become the new thing to do. With the ease of making a video and being able to post it for the world to see with a few clicks on the mouse. Of course there are millions of these videos out there but the truly worthwhile content producers manage to stick out in all of the noise. Doug Walker and his series The Nostalgia Critic was one of those.

Nerd Core Failing: The Fall of Geek Royalty, MC Chris

MC Chris is Dead… is the name of one of MC Chris’ albums and maybe it foretold the future.

Do you know of MC Chris? He’s a high pitched geek culture rapper made a bit extra famous by his roles as MC Pee Pants on Aqua Teen Hunger Force and the infamous Hesh on SeaLab 2021. Over the years he has toured A LOT, almost constantly. He sells his CDs mostly at shows and online through iTunes and Amazon. He’s been at this over ten years now with songs consisting mostly of geek references like Sci-fi, fantasy, gaming and how hard life is as a geek growing up. This dude’s fanbase is pretty big and rather loyal. I used to be one of them… used to.

SDCC is the Line That Never Ends…EVER

SDCC is the Line That Never Ends...EVER

San Diego Comic-Con has come and past as usual there are a TON of great exclusive statues and toys that go along with the event. Being a collector and not attending the event is a bit different though as sometimes you go through a hell worse than standing in line…

As you no doubt know from reading posts and listening to the podcasts made from SDCC (if you haven’t then I may disown you… and we were just getting to know each other) the Nerds of Poca-Lypse had a great time at this year’s Con. Well minus one thing… the damn lines. If you wanted to see anything you were waiting n a line. These weren’t any normal line, no sir. These were the kinda of lines were people were sleeping outside the day before and these lines were far too common.
