Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, Gerald’s Game is a film that plays more like a survival drama than a classic King horror story. When Jessie and Gerald Burlingame leave the city to go to a remote cabin to rekindle their problematic marriage things go a bit off the rails. Gerald (Bruce Greenwood) decides that the way to put the spark back into their marriage is to try having sex while using handcuffs to restrain Jessie (Carla Gugino). Bruce, unfortunately, has a heart attack and dies leaving Jessie restrained and no access to call for help.
The film really gets moving the second Jessie is pushed into this race against time scenario for her life. Struggling to deal with the realities of her newfound situation, while balancing her thoughts of what put her there make for a suspenseful ride.
