Toby Jones talks Arnim Zola’s return in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Toby Jones talks Arnim Zolas return in Captain America: The Winter Soldier

As we all know Toby Jones played this more human version of Arnim Zola in Captain America: The First Avenger. As the comic book lore goes Zola manages to transfer his consciousnesses to a robot body to live on in the future. Well I have to say the robot bodied version of the character is much more interesting than what we saw previously. Jones has confirmed that he will make his modern day return in the upcoming sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Shane Black is bringing Doc Savage to the big screen

Shane Black is bringing Doc Savage to the big screen

Director Shane Black’s latest movie, Iron Man 3, is clearly a huge success. With that level of success comes open doors that were once closed. Black has wanted to get the pulp comic icon to the big screen for some time now, and it looks like that’s about to happen. Sony has signed a contract with Shane Black to take the helm and co-write the script. No date has been set for release as of yet.

Entertainment Weekly confirms Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver for The Avengers 2

Entertainment Weekly confirms Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver for The Avengers 2

EW has confirmed the long held rumor that Marvel mutants siblings, Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver, will be joining The Avengers 2 cast. Whether or not they will play villains at first or just join up as heroes remains unclear. The larger issue here is the addition of mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While not being able to reference their father Magneto, due to contract issues with Fox Studios, this would leave them as the only mutants in the MCU; interesting. The idea of adding these two characters to the roster is fancisnating, and just the type of craziness Joss Whedon is known for.

Colin Firth joins Matthew Vaughn’s Secret Service

Colin Firth joins Matthew Vaughns Secret Service

Comic book adaptations are getting more and more established as a legitamite genre for big name actors to take on. Today’s news is a perfect example of that. Famed Oscar award winning British actor Colin Firth is joining director Matthew Vaughn’s Secret Service. Based on the comic book series created by Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) and David Gibbons (Watchmen). Not a superhero film, rather the series takes on more of the super spy world; in what Millar describes as James Bond meets My Fair Lady.

Michael Rooker joins the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy

Michael Rooker joins the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy

Michael Rooker AKA Merle Dixon from The Walking Dead has joined the cast of Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy directed by James Gunn. Many fans wanted Rooker for the role of Rocket Raccoon, and that’s my guess as to why he was even courted. Either way, Rooker is pretty great at playing a hard ass (my personal favorite was Days of Thunder). He will be taking on the role of former Guardian of the Galaxy member Yondu Udonta.

Jason Momoa is out…Dave Bautista is now Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy!

Jason Momoa is out...Dave Bautista is now Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy!

Jason Momoa was cast as Drax the Destroyer, but decided to demand more money. Unfortunately what he asked for was way to much and Marvel and Momoa decided to part ways. Well it looks like Marvel has found their Drax, and its former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista. While not much of an actor Bautista certainly looks the roll. He will join up with Chris Pratt as Star-Lord under the directing eye of James Gunn.

The Nova Corps making a debut in Guardians of the Galaxy?

The guys over at Ain’t it Cool News have broken another decent sized scoop when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, please take this with a HUGE grain of salt. Nothing has been verified as of yet, but chances are this rumor has some legs. AICN goes on to state that they are hearing word that the Nova Corps will make an appearance in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy directed by James Gunn.

Trailer Breakdown: Iron Man 3 trailer!

The latest and greatest trailer for the much anticipated Iron Man 3 has finally hit the internet, here. The overall nerd consensus is that it looks really great and everyone is pretty excited for May 3rd. We here at The Nerdpocalypse are equally excited and have watched and re-watched the trailer a number of times to see what little nuggets we might have missed. Here are a few things that we want to bring to your attention.

Planet Hulk movie is NOT happening

Planet Hulk movie is NOT happening

Planet Hulk/World War Hulk is not happening. As I said on a previous episode of The Nerdpocalypse podcast this was very unlikely to get off the ground. Mainly due to the lack of Bruce Banner in the Planet Hulk story. I frankly am relieved about not having a mostly CGI film, and Hulk as the villain in The Avengers 3. Check out the story from Ain’t It Cool News on their scoop of the Latino-Review.com scoop. Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below.

Peter Dinklage’s role in X-Men: Days of Future Past discovered

Peter Dinklages role in X Men: Days of Future Past discovered

When it was formally announced that Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) was joining the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past many speculated on his role. Due to his small stature many concluded that he would either be playing a character classically known to be the same stature (ex: Puck) or perhaps a voice actor for a CGI-ed role (ex: Master Mold). Well the times they are a changing.
