As a huge Batman fan you can imagine my excitement when a friend of mine offered me free tickets to Batman Live. Having followed all the hype around Spiderman Live I assumed Batman Live was a small-scale production just for U.K theatres because I hadn’t seen or heard anything about it, but I still experienced a bubbly sick feeling in my stomach while we waited in the queue outside the Liverpool Echo arena. I was not expecting the elaborate sets and costumes or the Broadway budget performers, which are the reality of Batman Live, and left with my mind blown.  Read more...

First trailer for The Dark Knight Returns: Part 1

Here is the first trailer for the animated version of DC’s The Dark Knight Returns. This is by far the most celebrated story arcs in DC’s history. Frank Miller did an extraordinary job with the comic. It deals with Bruce Wayne no longer being Batman for 10 years and what happens to Gotham in his absence. He is a much older man and not as quick and powerful as he once was. After Gotham City is overtaken by a gang who call themselves The Mutants, Bruce is once again forced to put on the suit and become the Dark Knight one more time. With Commissioner Gordon retiring and the city under siege the stakes have never been higher for both Bruce Wayne and The Batman.  Read more...

Nerds are always arguing over the quality of comic book films. The Amazing Spider-man earlier this month elicited just such a debate. On the podcast we have taken part in many of these debates. However, rarely do you see them resort to death threats. This was not the case with the rating of The Dark Knight Rises on Rotten Tomatoes. Nerds, such as myself, are not use to anything less than an A. Well, The Dark Rises rating was a punch to the gut of oh so many over-achievers. Rotten Tomatoes reported a rating of 87 percent fresh for The Dark Knight Rises. Apparently a B+ is unacceptable in the eyes of Nolanites.  Read more...

In the modern world of cinema there are many adages that are true. One of the more prominent ones is, if the movie fails we can just reboot it! We have seen this general thought process come in many forms. Whether it is because of the lack of success in a movie, to retain ownership rights, or to just avoid coming up with new ideas Hollywood is currently crazy for movie reboots. With the newly released remake, The Amazing Spider-Man, we are once again put on the train to Rebootsville and told everything will be alright, but will it? The general consensus about big budget Hollywood reboots is, they are bad news and shouldn’t be done. However, I would like talk about why we might actually be wrong. Yesterday, we got a great TV spot. Today we get the best The Dark Knight Rises trailer yet. The score for the trailer and film are absolutely perfect. It really pulls you into the world and makes it feel real. Hardy as Bane is just perfect so far. He has a way about him that is truly intimidating. Of course, Bale is cavalier as always with his Bruce Wayne. Lastly, I have to give credit to Anne Hathaway, she has won me over so far. July 20th can’t get here fast enough. Its TV spot day here at The Nerdpocalypse. Here is the latest TV spot to hit for The Dark Knight Rises. We get a new bit of footage of all the bat vehicles that we know and love.
