Director Joss Whedon did the impossible in 2012, he made a super hero movie truly cross over the widest movie going audience possible. In 2015 he aims to do it again with the sequel to The Avengers. New image of Cap after some sort of battle in Marvel’s upcoming summer blockbuster, The Avengers. This goes right along with a previously released image of Cap and Thor fighting off some would be alien aggressors. No official word yet as to who The Avengers will be going toe-to-toe with. However, whoever it is is in for a world of hurt. See the new image after the jump.

I have to say these look great. Principle shooting has ended for The Avengers and these official stills really look like they got the visuals right when it comes to the characters. The cell phone images from the set don’t do these guys justice. I am much more psyched for Cap’s costume seeing it in the proper light. Everyone except the Hulk is shown, but that’s to be expected considering the CGI work is far from complete.
