Colin Firth joins Matthew Vaughns Secret Service

Comic book adaptations are getting more and more established as a legitamite genre for big name actors to take on. Today’s news is a perfect example of that. Famed Oscar award winning British actor Colin Firth is joining director Matthew Vaughn’s Secret Service. Based on the comic book series created by Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) and David Gibbons (Watchmen). Not a superhero film, rather the series takes on more of the super spy world; in what Millar describes as James Bond meets My Fair Lady.

Comic Review: Jupiter’s Legacy #1

Comic Review: Jupiters Legacy #1

The combination of Mark Millar’s writing and Frank Quitely’s art is an instant buy for me. The two come together for this new series, Jupiter’s Legacy. The first issue starts out with a group of explorers traveling to a strange island because of a dream. The details of what happens on that island are unclear, but the group emerges forever changed.

Comic Review: SuperCrooks #4

The final chapter of Mark Millar’s Ocean’s Eleven with super villains mini-series, SuperCrooks, has come to an end. The four part series has been well received by fans and critics alike. Combining Millar’s writing and Leinil Yu’s artwork SuperCrooks has been one of the best series this year. SuperCrooks #4 carries on this precedent and ends the mini-series with style.

Comic Review: Superior

Comic Review: SuperiorSuperman is the most recognizable character in comics history. Why shouldn’t he be, he is indestructible. He is like a superhero messiah that has defied even death. Why wouldn’t Mark Millar want to use him as a starting place for his superb adaptation of a familiar comic book trope? In Superior the reader is given a heaping helping of Superman, with a dash of Captain Marvel a.k.a. Shazam, bit of the monkey’s paw, and the movie Big for good measure. I absolutely loved this series. I read it in just over an hour and hope that another installment is on the horizon.

Trouble: A quick correction of the podcast confusion

Trouble: A quick correction of the podcast confusion

UPDATE: Just a quick correction of the podcast information. The summary of the story is this…
Sisters Mary and May take on a summer job at a resort in the Hamptons after high school. Brothers Ben and Richie take a road trip in their mustang and meet Mary and May. May and Ben pair off and Mary and Richie pair off. May has been told by a fortune teller that no one will ever call her “mom.” Just a side note, could they not call her mommy or mother. Anyway, because of this news May is very promiscuous. Mary on the other hand was told if she has sex as a teenager she will become a teenage mom. Because of this Mary, is unwilling to become intimate with Richie. Due to these sexual dynamics the inevitable happens and Richie has an affair with May. The story continues leaving May pregnant. When she goes to Ben she finds out that Ben is actually sterile. I will give a full review when I get time to read the series.
