Netflix’s next original series to be Sci-fi

Netflixs next original series to be Sci fi

It was no surprise to the folks over at the internet movie streaming juggernaut, Netflix, that this year’s political drama, House of Cards, would be a massive hit. Based on statistics Netflix was able to gauge how popular a show starring Kevin Spacey and directed by David Fincher would do; turns out pretty damn well. So with that formula it looks like they are back at it again. Next new show idea will apparently be a sci-fi series.

Digital Comics need a revolution, badly!

Digital Comics need a revolution, badly!

Digital Comics: Why is this concept so difficult?

Ever since I cracked my first comic I was fully invested in the notion of keeping up with storylines and major events. From the weekly Spider-man comics to who the Avengers were beefing with that week, I couldn’t get enough. Fast forward to the age of the ubiquitous smart phones and tablet computers, and the seemingly easy access to not only books, but also comics especially. As time had gone on I lost my dying need to read the standard weekly. I would just hold out for the large events or just buy the trade paperbacks, or TPBs. Buying trades has become the optimal choice, as I hate having to wait so long to get a full story arc. Give me 20+ issues bundled together and a quiet afternoon and I am all set. I read Marvel’s Fear Itself in one sitting because of the convenience of just having the book in its entirety, minus the side stories, at my fingertips. So trades are the way to go! YEAH! Problems solved, right? Not quite.

Verizon goes after Netflix’s bread and butter

Verizon goes after Netflixs bread and butter

Verizon has decided to through its hat in the ring for streaming services coming in 2012. The notion that Verizon will be able to make significant inroads is laughable to me. While some are upset that Netflix changed its pricing system recently, the thought of a cable provider being able to match Netflix or better it is very unlikely. The entire popularity of Netflix is based on two things:

  • Alternative to cable companies and their insane pricing (i.e. – $100+ dollars a month)
  • Netflix’s ubiquity on home devices (i.e. – phones, tablet, and gaming consoles)

Rock-Afire Explosion! Documentary now on NetFlix!

ROCK-AFIRE EXPLOSION!

Netflix streaming now has a documentary about the band Rock-Afire Explosion from Showbiz Pizza. As a child this was one of my favorite places to visit. It is an interesting documentary about the rise and fall of the Rock-Afire Explosion. It answers the age-old question of why Showbiz switched its name to Chuck-E-Cheese. Quirky, unique, and a little odd, this one is definitely worth a watch.

Arrested Development is back!!!!

Arrested Development is back!!!!

Well soon. Apparently today it was leaked by the show’s creator Mitch Hurwitz that the show will return for a limited 10 episode season to gear up for a Arrested Development movie. This is great news obviously for all parties involved and especially the fans! As I am re-watching the series for the third time on Netflix I can’t believe this is actually happening.

Side note: All the talk about Michael Cera being the hold out was just a joke and he was in on it. I know there was a lot of Cera hate for that. Consider him vindicated!

Episode 03: Those movies are mine, dammit!

This week the guys discuss the upcoming release of Gears of War 3 and Arkham City. Micah admits he is a whore for Blu-ray movies. Matthew gives us the scoop on why George Lucas isn’t the first to edit his own work continuously. Jay gives his rant on why Netflix is a sweet deal!
