After Microsoft brought the games to E3 earlier today, Sony had a tall order ahead of them during their press event. And though it took them a while to get going…get going they did, as the last half hour of their two-hour event might have stolen the show.
The week on the Dense Pixels Podcast the crew gives you their E3 predictions a week before the big event, and debates how much the new consoles will cost. Also discussed are Microsoft’s billion dollar investment, Sony’s stance on DRM, more Kickstarter successes and failures, and Terrence condemns the addition of Scorpion to Injustice.
If you were one of the precious few able to view Sony’s presentation through the fits and starts of an over-labored interwebs server, you were witness to the birth of a machine designed for the here and now, delivered by a group of men who can barely read a teleprompter.
Sony has been obviously all over the news lately with their reboot of the hugely popular Spider-Man movie series. However, with the seemingly guaranteed success of the reboot comes a battery of questions as to what happens next. Sony seems to be shaping up to match Marvel’s connected movie universe with its own expanded Spidey centric universe. Previously, there was news that Avi Arad was pushing for a solo Venom movie. You can read about my opinions on that here. Now during an interview with SuperHeroHype.com, Arad made some interesting statements about other characters in the Spider-Man universe that might make for some intriguing moments going forward.
A Venom movie…
With the unprecedented success of Marvel’s big comic book team up movie, The Avengers, its no wonder other studios are clamoring to make the same movie magic happen for them. We have heard many reports that Warner Brothers/DC will be pushing up production for a Justice League movie (and solo hero movies to lead in) and now Sony seems to want to build out the Spider-Man universe. Here is what Avi Arad had to say:
