This week on Dense Pixels it’s beginning to be the lean days of Summer, but the guys still had a variety of topics to discuss. We discuss Nintendo’s follies, the new Call of Duty, Bobby Kotick makes too much money, and stereotypes in video games. Also, more tangential conversations than you can shake a stick at!

This week the Dense Pixels crew talks the absolute ridiculousness of PETA’s grandstanding, why the name of a trophy shouldn’t be a big issue, whether the death of brick & mortar stores is exaggerated, and if the Steam Box is destined for success. You also get to find out which Walking Dead game you should be buying (hint: it isn’t Survival Instinct), and a whole lot more!

Our first episode! The guys talk this week about violence in video games, the attitude of Japanese gaming companies, PlayStation 4 rumblings and rumors, and so much more. Jack gives his impressions of the newly-released Dead Space 3, Micah and Terrance laud DMC, and Brad professes his adoration for Ni No Kuni.

There are very few times that I go to the movies with my son and leave as entertained as he was. That was my experience with Wreck-It Ralph. Cameos by your favorite video game characters populate the film. From Ryu and Ken’s trip to Tapper’s for a root beer at the beginning of the film, to an out of work and homeless Q-bert, nostalgia is present in abundance.

A new open world game (!)
From Hideo Kojima (!!)
Starring SNAKE (!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Below is footage of Hideo Kojima’s new game Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Running on the new Fox Engine, MGS:GZ boasts very impressive visuals and open world style gameplay. Kojima has stated that this is to be a possible prequel to Metal Gear Solid 5. The game is currently running on a PC with PS3 specs but should be available for both PS3 and XBOX 360.
Friday on our way to the San Diego Convention Center we notice a giant ad for The Amazing Spider-Man video game. Pretty cool but nothing we haven’t seen before. Today, that same advertisement was spray painted with Deadpool’s logo over it. This is some pretty cool marketing for the newly announced Deadpool game.
Wait what? Yeah that’s right. Variety is reporting that Fassbender has decided to wear the bad ass white assassin’s cloak and travel through the animus and star in Assassin’s Creed. With a video game adaptation I would never expect to hear such a rising star like Fassbender attached to this. However, his record so far has been pretty solid, from Magneto to sex addict, Fassbender can do it all.
The Ubisoft video game franchise, Splinter Cell might be coming to a theater near you sooner than you think. The folks over at Deadline are reporting the Sam Fisher and his stealthy universe are being sought after by Paramount Studios. In the past Warner Brothers was in talks but now it seems Paramount is the lead contender to bring international espionage game into the movie mainstream. The good piece of news out of this story besides the movie itself is that Ubisoft will be an integral part of the movie’s production. This hopefully will keep the film from diverting too far from its roots.
